I have taken some pictures of my Harry Potter villains figures, for those of you who celebrate Halloween.

This is a set of pictures I took of my best friend Estefanía. Neither her or me smoke but we wanted to try taking some shoots involving cigarretes and smoke, and it is not very easy to find models at 3am being at home, so we made the efford and smoked one for these pictures… This is what happens when inspiration comes at weird places and timing.
This picture has a bit of story behind it. I am usually VERY shy when it comes to shooting at strangers… but this time I had to do it! The problem was that I was packed with grocery bags and my camera was on my backpack. So I had less than a minute to get my camera, set the speed ( I dont have a manual photometer still), compose, focus and shoot without the guy realising.
All in all i am proud of the result.
And also this is an example of why I ALWAYS carry my camera on me. The oportunities you let pass if you don’t do it!
Today I got my new lense, a Nikkor AI 50mm F1.8. Oldschool!! It is totally made of awesome, metallic, completly manual. You get a very different feeling than with the current plastic automatic lenses…
I don’t have a manual photometer, yet, so I did some first shootings setting the speed by my instinct and some failed pictures.
This set is nothing espectacular, it’s a bit of a first test to see how well it works by day and night. All pictures were taken at F1.8, no flash or tripod used in any of them. I think it is pretty sharp in the focus point though it tend to deform the image a bit on the borders. What do you think?
Also, the darkest picture was taken at a speed of 1/30 F1.8. That is fast!
Here we go:
You can clearly see what I mean by deformed on the borders in this one:
All in all I am very happy with my purchase and I certanly recommend that everyone who wants to be a bit serious with their photography get a very luminous and fast lense, under F2.
