This is a zoom lense for the everyday. Very able to take good pictures in almost any condition. Its the only lense I own that autofocus with the D40, though I focus manually almost always.
-nikkor AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 G
I use this telephoto when I want to capture wild animals, people in natural poses or details of the architecture
-nikkor AI 50mm F1.8
An oldschool second-hand lense with fixed focal and very luminous. Great for night shoots with no tripod and portraits.
I shoot in RAW. The software I use to develop my pictures is Adobe Lightroom for Mac OS X leopard.
